Today is the first official day of my detox, the day started with a lovely breakfast of fresh salmon and scrambled eggs. After breakfast, I met up with the specialist I seen yesterday who explained possible withdrawal symptoms that I may experience during detox, he informed me that although the symptoms may not be that severe I will be constantly monitored by the recovery team with are available 24/7 and if the symptoms become too much, prescription medication can be introduced to ease the pain.

This was all very reassuring as when you read up about detox it can be quite daunting to look at all the different withdrawal symptoms that can come with the process, I feel a lot calmer knowing that I will have people there for me 24 hours of the day helping me through this as I don’t think I could manage on my own.

Overall the first day of detox didn’t bring too many problems, I finished the day with some lovely roasted chicken and vegetables with a nice yoghurt to finish.

Are you suffering with an alcohol addiction?

The most proven way to recover from addiction is by undertaking a rehabilitation programme, I am currently receiving treatment from a drug and alcohol rehab clinic in Spain called Step One Recovery who are part of Rehab Clinics Group.
