Whilst I am going through my detox, I will also take part in 1 to 1 counselling sessions. The purpose of these sessions is to get me to open up more about my addiction. The session went really well, I’ve never really fully opened up to anyone before but since I have gone through the whole process of accepting that I have a problem, I have found it so much easier to talk about my issues. We talked about everything but mainly it was about my family and how they are the reason I want to get better.

The session lasted a while and made me feel great, i’m not experiencing any withdrawal symptoms yet but the doctor did say it may take a few days until I start experiencing any symptoms. I finished the day watching some tv and speaking to other patients in the centre, we ended up having a lot in common and spent most of the time talking about football. Dinner was salmon risotto with greek yoghurt and fruit for dessert.

Are you suffering with an alcohol addiction?

The most proven way to recover from addiction is by undertaking a rehabilitation programme, I am currently receiving treatment from a drug and alcohol rehab clinic in Spain called Step One Recovery who are part of Rehab Clinics Group.
